Tray & Toast is published by Janet Media Group. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful. It collects standard web analytics data such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and whether a buy button was clicked. IP addresses are anonymized by Google before storage.

We use this in aggregate to decide what to write next. We do not use it to identify individuals and we do not attempt to.

Affiliate cookies

When you click a product link, the retailer may set a cookie in your browser so that a purchase within their cookie window is attributed to this site. That cookie is set and read by the retailer, not by us, and it is subject to their privacy policy. See our affiliate disclosure for how the commercial relationship works.

The contact form

If you use the contact form we receive the name, email address and message you submit. We use that information solely to reply to you. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or share it.

The form also collects a timestamp of when the page loaded and your IP address, used only for spam prevention — automated submissions arrive in milliseconds and humans do not. This data is held briefly in memory and is not stored long-term.

What we do not collect

• We do not sell personal information.
• We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
• We do not have user accounts, so there is no password to lose.
• We do not take payments, so we never see payment details.

Cookies used on this site

• Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, to distinguish visitors and sessions.
• Affiliate cookies set by retailers when you click a product link.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on how the site works. Blocking affiliate cookies also has no effect on you — it only means this site does not get credited for a purchase.

Third parties

• Google Analytics — analytics, subject to Google’s privacy policy.
• Amazon — when you follow a product link, subject to Amazon’s privacy notice.
• Vercel — hosting, which involves standard server logging.
• Microsoft — contact form messages are delivered by email through Microsoft services.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ configured retention period. Contact form emails are retained for as long as needed to handle the conversation and any follow-up. Spam prevention data is transient and not persisted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Since the only personal information we typically hold is a contact form email you chose to send us, such requests are usually straightforward.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
